Practical Tips

Central Portugal is best explored by car, giving you the freedom to visit charming villages, scenic viewpoints and hidden gems at your own pace. The roads are generally in excellent condition, and most destinations are within a one to two-hour drive of each other.

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–October) offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, while summer is perfect for the coast. Winter can bring snow to Serra da Estrela, making it a unique destination for nature lovers.
